Powerful, Easy Access to Data

At its very core, the Airport Management System employs a powerful, proven technology that allows data to be organized, maintained, and, most of all, easily accessed. Key data is retrieved or entered only once - and then it can be accessed by all integrated systems and authorized personnel, whether they're in the office or on the runway. Data can be retrieved through a variety of standardized and ad hoc reports and queries.

The Airport Management System was developed using the UniVerse Database, by Ardent Software, in conjunction with its complementary compiled Basic language. The UniVerse database has very powerful and unique features which differentiate it from the standard data base management systems (DBMS). Most DBMS are two dimensional. That is, data is stored in rows and columns. UniVerse, on the other hand, is four dimensional. Each cell (row and column) may have multiple and sub-multiple values. In this manner, data storage and retrieval are more efficient.
